Kos Airport

Kos Ippokratis International Airport (KGS), named after the father of Western medicine who was born on the island, is located in the central-southern part of Kos, 26 kilometers southwest of the capital and near the villages of Antimachia and Kardamena.

The airport, relatively large, has two terminals and was renovated and expanded in 1997. In winter daily connections reach Athens and Thessaloniki , while in summer numerous charter flights reach the island of Kos from major European locations and from the main British airports thanks to the great tourist vocation of the island.

How to move from Kos airport

Once landed, you can choose to move around relying on buses, public transport KTEL stop outside the airport of Kos and reach the capital of the island and other destinations, cabs or rent a car to be picked up conveniently in the agencies present in the airport.

By bus

A single public bus service, operated by KTEL, makes connections from the airport to Kos Town and also reaches other famous destinations and localities of the island such as Marmari, Mastihari, Pyli and Tigaki.

The bus stop is about 20 meters from the exit of the arrivals hall of the airport and the journey time to Kos Town is about 40 minutes.

By cab

Cabs are a convenient and inexpensive way to get to the various locations in Kos and to your accommodation, especially if you are staying in facilities outside the city.

The cars are located outside the terminal.

With a rental car

The best way to reach your accommodation from Kos airport is to take a rental car. The public service, in fact, handles connections only with Kos Town and the main resorts of the island.

Choosing to travel by car will allow you, moreover, to reach all the beaches of Kos, even the most picturesque and hidden ones.
