The beaches of Kos are considered the most beautiful of the Dodecanese and among the most beautiful of all Greece.

Come and judge with your own eyes: enchanting sandy beaches of soft, white or golden sand, bathed by a crystal clear sea, and rocky coves with a wild appearance await you.

For families and young people looking for fun there is a wide choice of equipped beaches, very popular but never excessive as the trendiest beaches of Mykonos. Nature lovers can opt for quieter beaches, surrounded by greenery.

Start already to imagine a dream beach vacation by reading our guide on the beaches not to be missed in Kos.

Paradise Beach

Once Paradise Beach was a real paradise, a beautiful beach of fine sand almost always deserted along the coast of the bay of Kefalos.

Word spread and today Paradise Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Kos, but it still retains its natural charm.

While very popular, this well-equipped beach is a far cry from the excesses of the Mykonos beach of the same name, which is famous for its parties and clubs.

This beach of fine golden sand is very popular with families, thanks to the excellent restaurants and bars that line it and the shallow waters that are perfect for children, who can enjoy diving from the large floating platform just steps from the shore.

At the southern end of Paradise Beach is a rocky promontory that plunges into the sea, ideal for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

The beach is characterized by very cold but very clear water thanks to a volcanic phenomenon that produces bubbles that cool the sea.

Therma Beach

Therma, a beach of dark sand and pebbles, is not particularly charming in itself, yet it is one of the major tourist attractions of Kos Island.

The name Therma in Greek means hot and fits very well to the shape of this beach: to make it so interesting for tourists are the sources of hot thermal waters that through an underground channel are mixed with sea water.

At the end of a small beach of black sand and pebbles, using stones, a sort of thermal pool has been created directly in the sea, for a curative and relaxing bath with temperatures ranging between 42 and 50 ° C.

The water coming from the spring is rich in sulfur, potassium, calcium, magnesium and has therapeutic benefits in cases of arthritis, rheumatism and dermatological problems, but you can immerse yourself in the natural spa for the simple pleasure of relaxing!

Therma’s warm waters allow for trouble-free swimming well into late fall.

Tigaki Beach

The stunning white sand beach of Tigaki is located along the northern coast of Kos and is ideal for those traveling with young children.

Umbrellas on Tigaki Beach

It’s not hard to see why Tigaki has become one of Kos’ most famous beaches.

There are two reasons why it is so attractive: it is a 10-kilometer-long beach of white sand bathed by a crystal-clear sea; it enjoys an extraordinary view of the Turkish peninsula of Bodrum and the islands of Kalymnos and Perimsos.

Tigaki is immersed in an exceptional landscape full of meadows and flowers but has excellent services with medium-high hotels, apartments for rent, travel agencies, stores, bars, taverns and cafes as well as nautical centers where you can practice water sports, take windsurfing lessons and rent chairs, chairs and umbrellas.

Where is it located? Tigaki Beach is located along the northern coast of Kos, just 11 kilometers from the capital and 7 from the village of Asfendiou.

Mastichari Beach

Mastichari Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island thanks to its white sand and emerald sea.

The white beach of Mastichari

Surrounded by tamarisk trees, the white sand beach of Mastichari is a beach with a Caribbean flavor, with white sand and blue sea.

Former fishing village, is a quiet place, remained immune to the invasion of mass tourism: there are services on the beach and hotel facilities in the area, but without excessive crowding.

On the seafront there are a number of notable restaurants where you can enjoy the rich local cuisine: the port of the village is always full of fishermen who daily supply the taverns with fresh fish. Here every year is organized the Wine Festival.

Mastichari is also the starting point for boat trips to the nearby islands of Kalymos and Pserimos.

If you are lucky you can rent studios that overlook the sea. The sunset will leave you breathless!

Where is it located? Mastichari beach is located along the northern coast of Kos, 22 kilometers west of the capital and in front of the modern tourist village of the same name.

Agios Theologos Beach

Reachable from Kefalos with a route not exactly easy, Agios Theologos is a tiny beach of sand and gravel that includes a series of small inlets and coves.

Inserted in a spectacular natural context of cliffs and rocky walls, Agios Theologos is a particularly suggestive and little known beach. It takes its name from the small church of Moni Agiou Theologou.

Lambi Beach

Lambi is a lovely equipped beach easily reachable by car or bus from Kos town: for this convenience and for the quantity of services available it is very loved by tourists and residents.

The coast of Lambi, a 1 km long golden sandy beach surrounded by greenery, alternates areas with rental umbrellas and bars to free areas.

The clear waters of Kos

Agios Stefanos Beach

Considered by many one of the most beautiful beaches of Kos thanks to its turquoise and transparent waters, ideal for families and for those who love the sea life, Agios Stefanos is located just 3 kilometers from Kefalos, in the western part of the island, and overlooks the large gulf of Kolpos Kefalou.

What makes it particularly suggestive is the presence, just in front of the beach, of theislet of Kastri, an outcrop of rock on which has been built a typical Greek white and blue church.

According to a local custom, the most daring ones reach the islet by swimming, climb on the rocks and ring a small bell which is located at the side of the church.

If a swimming crossing is not for you, you can stay on the beach and admire the ruins of the Christian basilicas, discovered in 1932 by the Italian archaeologist Lorenzi, and decorated with beautiful mosaics.

Agios Fokas Beach

Almost all tourists consider Agios Fokas only a necessary stopover for the natural hot springs of Kos, but the beach is worth a stop.

It is a lovely pebble beach equipped with the main services and generally not very crowded; it is also a good point from which to admire the sunset.

Marmari Beach

Marmari beach is located along the northern coast of Kos and is surrounded by a fantastic panorama of fine white sand dunes and taverns.

Separated from Tigaki beach by the salt marsh of Alyki, Marmari is a long sandy beach with many facilities and for this reason awarded with the Blue Flag; you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, practice water sports as well as enjoy the traditional cuisine of Kos in one of its many wineries, bars and restaurants.

The beach is surrounded by a fantastic panorama of sand dunes that separate the bathing area from the hotel services arranged along the coast. Despite being equipped, the beach is never crowded during the summer and given its extension you will not find difficult to find a corner all for you where you can lay your towel.

Marmari is particularly loved by families for its shallow waters and its crystal clear waters that in winter are populated by algae of the species Posidonia, a sign of clean sea, a vital fish fauna and a good oxygenation of the water.

The beach is made more fascinating by a system of dunes behind it, which separate it from the hotels and apartments along the coast.

Where is it located? Marmari beach is located along the northern coast of the island 15 kilometers northwest of Kos town and 4 kilometers from Pyli.

Kardamena Beach

Kardamena is one of the main tourist resorts of Kos Island. Its sandy beach, more than 3 kilometers long, extends on both sides of the village to the village of Tolari.

It is an equipped beach, with many services, loved by families for the calm and shallow waters that make it suitable for small children.

Young people looking for fun, instead, appreciate Kardamena for the quantity of water sports that can be practiced and for the lively nightlife.

From Kardamena there are boat excursions to Paradise Beach and to Nisyros, a small island of volcanic origin.
