The Iaonnis Daskalogiannis International Airport of Chania (CHQ), or simply Crete Chania Airport, is one of the three airports serving the island and it is located on the peninsula of Akrotiri, in the western part, near the bay of Souda and just 14 kilometers from the city of Hania.
Less crowded than the airport of Heraklion, the airport of Chania is connected during the year with daily flights from and to Athens and Thessaloniki and in the summer period, from the end of April to the end of October, additional flights are added to connect Crete with the major European airports.
The airport is well connected with the city thanks to a bus service with 7 connections during the day, cabs (the waiting area is located just outside the terminal), or a rental car that you can pick up at the airport. The island of Crete is really big and full of natural treasures easy to reach by following the well signposted road signs.
